The Creation Process

Creating a realistic silicone prosthetic involves far more than simply pouring silicone into a mould. Every piece goes through multiple stages, each requiring specialised materials, equipment and many hours of labour.
A typical custom prosthetic includes:
1. Consultation & Design
We begin by discussing your project, reference images, sizing, budget and filming requirements. From there, I determine the best approach and prepare a personalised quote.
2. Sculpting
Every prosthetic begins as a sculpture.
Depending on the size and complexity, sculpting can take anywhere from a few hours to several days. Sculpting is charged at $50 per hour, with the total time varying depending on the design.
3. Mould Making
Once the sculpture is complete, a mould must be created.
During this process, we use professional mould-making materials including polyurethane resin and platinum-cure silicone. Larger or more complex prosthetics may require multiple mould sections or intricate snap moulds to ensure the prosthetic can be cast correctly.
4. Silicone Casting
The finished mould is then used to cast the prosthetic using encapsulated silicone, creating a durable, film-quality appliance ready for painting and application.
5. Painting & Finishing
The prosthetic is trimmed, cleaned, and if required, coloured and detailed so it is camera ready.
6. Application (Optional)
If required, I can professionally apply the prosthetic on set or at your location.
